Wild Ginger Root & Leaf Tincture (asarum canadense)

Not to be confused with other herbs known as “wild ginger”! This is asarum canadense, positively identified by its fleshy, heart-shaped, evenly-colored leafs; mat-forming growth habit in damp, loose soils; and spicy, scented rhizomes.

Description

2 fluid ounces. Fresh wild ginger (asarum canadense) root and leaf tinctured in 50% grain alcohol (weight to volume ratio 1:2). Comes in an amber glass bottle with dropper cap. !Topical use only!

Ingredients: menstruum blend (grain alcohol, water), wild ginger leaf and root

Similar to true domesticated ginger in scent and energetic profile; but botanically unrelated! Wild ginger is abundant on our damp, north-facing slope, especially around springs and seeps, forming thick mats that benefit from periodic thinning and disruption.

All of our native rhizomatic herbs are harvested from healthy, robust stands in the fall on a long-term patch rotation to ensure population health. We return root crowns and bud sections to the soil, allowing harvested plants to continue living and growing while decreasing crowding; and we support the genetic diversity of our population by replanting their seeds in the area. We harvest wild ginger just before the leafs die back for a more well-rounded and potent tincture while maintaining our rhizome stewardship practices.

Why topical use only? State and federal regulations require products for human consumption to be produced in a certified commercial kitchen. While we strive for the highest production standards, we do not maintain a commercial kitchen.
