From the book:
Writing with integrity about herbalism is a complex task. All information about healing is a conversation: One that takes place between plants and people, between helpers and those in need of help, between generations, even across hundreds of years. Healing is relational: What we know to be true is developed through our relationships to others and our ability to trust their ideas, honed by what we see verified with our own eyes.
Much of what herbalists learn comes from conversation with other herbalists, with people we help, and through observation of living plants over the course of years. The information in this book is no different. Scientific citations are provided where relevant; references to particular authors are given alongside their original perspectives or claims; and the rest is a synthesis of experience and communal education. Personal opinion or original experience is disclaimed where applicable.
